Outfit Entry #9

Sweater by F21, Hat by Walmart (wuhhh?), Jeans by BDG, Boots by Target

These were taken on a trip with Gent to the Silver Lake neighborhood. We walked past this wall on our way to this unbearably hip coffee shop (and believe me, it was pretty unbearable). Los Angeles tends two average about two months of solid sweater weather, so if you catch it, there's no better reason to celebrate. Maybe I'm doing that in the second picture. Or not. P.S. I never noticed my hands were so alarmingly pale. What does it mean???

Outfit Entry #8

Vintage Sweater, Collared Top by F21, Jeans by BDG, Shoes by Target

The older I get, the more I think that personality far outweighs trends or styles when it comes to fashion. I made the floral crown seen here, and I wear it because I like it. Because I want to. Because it's fun and makes me feel happy. It is a little big and it does look a little ridiculous, but so what? I no longer desire to subscribe to a certain aesthetic, but on the whole prefer pieces that express who I am. Don't you think that people look the best when they look like themselves?

Outfit Entry #7

Dress by Anthropologie, Blouse by F21, Boots by Miss Mooz

I bought this dress because I am in love with the pattern--it looks like a Pollock that married a Warhol. As Oscar Wilde said, "One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art."

Outfit Entry #6

Dress by Asos, Boots from Target, Hat from Walmart

When I wore this outfit to dinner with my mom, she told me I looked like a witch. But isn't there something wonderful about being a little bit Wicked?

Outfit Entry #5

Trench coat by Gap, Dress by ?, Pants by Abercrombieyeahonceshoppedtherewhatever, Boots by Target

In my youth, my mother once told me that she wouldn't get me a trench coat because I would never wear it. For those who might think the same, let me assure you that trench coats are one of the great joys in life. They are great for a noncommittal relationship in which they provide warmth while also remaining very light, and provide a great neutral. Sometimes I pop the collar and pretend I'm an extra from Casablanca.

Outfit Entry #4

Shirt by J.Crew, Dress by ?, Pants via Nordstrom, Boots by Michael Kors

When it comes to clothes, I can be a bit of hoarder. That doesn't mean that my closet is full of forgotten things or mistakes, but that I hate to throw anything away when it can be useful. I love the idea of building and incorporating within my wardrobe. I bought this dress my freshman year of high school, and I still use it to mix things up.

Outfit Entry #3

Blouse by F21, Dress by Ralph Lauren, Boots via Nordstrom

I mentioned in this post that when I cut my hair, I found that my look became a little too "precious." I think this outfit post--taken right after my haircut--is pretty good evidence of that. I try to really mix things up to avoid an outfit being too much of one thing, but looking back on this I don't actually think it was that bad. Sometimes you don't want to be defined by something that has both lace and a peter pan collar, and sometimes you just have to do what you want.

Outfit #2

Jacket by Zara, Blouse by F21, Jeans by BDG, Shoes by Target

I've been a French history nut for as long as I remember, so when I saw a jacket that reminded me of the little Corsican man that could (i.e. Napoleon) I had to have it. I think the best clothes are the ones that come with character, ones that can transport you  and spark the imagination, and to me this jacket does just that.

Outfit Entry #1

Shirt by J. Crew, Blazer by Gap, Jeans by BDG, Boots by Target, Hat by Vera Wang x Kohls

I've always been a big fan of mixing materials; I love contrast. For this outfit, however, I attempted my version of what has been lovingly, or sometimes unlovingly, referred to as the Canadian Tuxedo. Looking at these pictures makes me sad--not because of the jean-on-jean, which I've decided I actually quite like--but because these are my favorite boots and they are fading fast. I am currently on a mission for some black, vegan boots, but this is not as easy as you would think.
